MF 7200 Beta

From dry cereals to wet rice, you can rely on a Massey Ferguson BETA combine to deliver. MF 7260 and MF 7270 BETA combines are built to the highest worldwide standards and deliver top performance in all types of

crop all over the world. Drawing on 50 years’ experience in the design and manufacture of harvesting machinery, these combines are capable of handling the most demanding harvests. MF BETA combines are at home in any crop: cereals, peas, beans, sunflowers, oil seed rape, grass seed, dry rice, wet rice or maize.

At harvest time, every minute counts; that’s why we provide you with combine harvesters delivering high-performance, reliability and ease of operation through practical design. With combines from the Massey Ferguson BETA range, you are sure of making the right choice. Practical design, easy operation and top performance MF BETA combines are built to the high standards you expect. Low cost of ownership is important when choosing your new combine and the BETA range is designed with this objective in mind. The machine’s components are designed for the harshest crops.

The benefit to you being increased durability whether harvesting cereals, maize or rice – a crop that requires a lot of power and is very abrasive. Every component has been designed and selected for maximum durability and long life. Many of the parts that actually come into contact with the crop benefit from the use of thicker, hard wearing materials. What is more, over 80% of the parts in contact with the crop are galvanized and all are painted before assembly. This further enhances the longevity of the machine and maximises resale value.

The FreeFlow cutting tables on MF 7260 and MF 7270 BETA combines are designed for harvesting a wide variety of crops. The table consists of a welded frame to which bolt-on panels are mounted. These panels, for example the table bottom plates, can therefore be replaced easily when required. The crop is cut by a high performance Schumacher knife and gearbox. It then feeds into a large diameter table auger that has feathering fingers along its entire length, to ensure even distribution of the crop as it is fed into the main crop elevator. All reel adjustments are made using the hydrostatic control lever in the cab. Automatic cutting height control is standard on all machines to optimise table performance on all types of terrain. The Agritronicplus monitor is used to set the table height controls.

PowerFlow

The powerful choice Crops like oil seed rape, peas and rye are difficult to harvest as is laid wheat and barley. Pioneered by Massey Ferguson over 30 years ago, the PowerFlow table has the ability to tackle these crops with ease. The knife is a massive 1.14 m from the table auger so vision and performance are at the optimum. The rugged powerflow belts power the crop away from the knife and into the main crop elevator at a consistent speed and no changes are required on the table when moving from one crop to another. You can also benefit from up to a 73% increase in output when using the PowerFlow table in oilseed rape rather than a conventional table; making PowerFlow the obvious choice in a variety of crops and conditions.

The Power Feed Roller at the front of the main crop elevator gives a consistent crop fl ow from the table into the main crop elevator. As a result of the more even crop fl ow, less power is needed to thresh the crop. The crop is distributed across the full width of the elevator by the Power Feed Roller to maximise the potential of the threshing unit. In addition, as the crop is readily

prepared for optimum threshing, both power requirement and more importantly fuel consumption is reduced.

The key to performance!

Equipped with a robust, highinertia cylinder and a heavy-duty concave, these machines are able to effectively thresh the majority of crops with ease. The threshing drum has added weight in the form of ballast bars to increase the weight around the cylinder as they thresh the heads. This reduces load on the drives, power requirement and fuel consumption.

The concave has differentiated wire spacing, i.e. the rear section of the concave has half as many

wires as the front section. This principle provides the optimum balance between high threshing capacity and good grain flow through the concave. Independent adjustment of the front and rear of the concave is via electric controls in the cab. Thismakes it possible for the operator to set the concave to the optimum position to suit the conditions. For example, using the concave in the parallel position allows output to be maximised and straw damage minimised.

Two combines in one

Separation choices to suit your harvest MF BETA combines have a rotary separator as standard which features adjustable concave and speed. This gives the operator the ability to match the combine settings to the condition of the crop thus optimising separation and straw quality. This rotary separator has one unique feature that sets it apart from the rest; the ability to rotate the concave up over the top of the rotary separator when it is not required. This makes it possible to optimise machine performance in dry conditions, improving throughput. The separating system performs at maximum capacity according to the type of crop being harvested and straw quality requirements.

The unit is electrically operated from the left-hand side of the machine, requiring no tools. 5 or 6 straw walkers for separation down to the very last grain The long straw walkers feature 4 steps with “active walls”. The 210 mm high vertical sections of the walker steps are punched grids. This gives extra open surface area for more efficient separation. The front steps of the straw walkers are made of thicker metal to deal with the high flow of straw from the threshing system and rotary separator. The fully-welded walkers are of closed bottom design and are hot-dip galvanized for increased durability. Residue handling – Reduce your primary cultivation costs The straw chopper on MF BETA combines is specifically designed to give these machines unrivalled chopping and spreading performance, ideal for farmers using reduced tillage operations. All knives in the straw chopper are serrated to give a clean chop and reduce the power requirement. The fully adjustable stationary knives and straw chopper hood ensure complete control over the quality and spread of the chopped straw. In addition, the adjustable floor of the chopper is dimpled, which deflects the chopped straw upward, back into the rotating knives for a finer chop.

The straw chopper is engaged automatically once the chopper hood is moved into the correct working position. The deflection plate on the straw walker hood is easily moved by a lever. The chopper can also be converted very quickly for harvesting maize.

The simplest is still the best

The BETA Series shaker shoe is extremely simple in terms of design, without compromising on capacity. Before reaching the sieves, the crop is directed to the grain pan, which has high dividers to reduce grain movement across the pan on slopes. This gives excellent distribution of the grain and chaff over the sieves, optimising the machine’s capacity when working on undulating ground. Any returns are fed into the main threshing cylinder for rethreshing. The reciprocating sieves allow excellent circulation of the constant air flow produced by the large diameter, multi-blade fan, which is electrically adjustable from the cab. The sieve profile is the key to shaker shoe performance. The high performance sieves are specially designed with vertical tags which improve the sample and allow you to open the sieves wider for greater throughput. The practical design also allows one person to remove and clean the sieves easily between crops.

High capacity grain tank The grain tanks offer plenty of capacity (9000 litres on standard version and 8200 litres on Auto Level version) while unloading rates of 105 l/sec rival those of much larger machines. At 4.45 m the unloading auger gives plenty of height and reach to fill any trailer. The two grain level alarms in the grain tank ensure there are no overflows. The MF 7260 and MF 7270 standard models have metal grain tank covers, electrically operated from the driver’s seat.

Auto Level: Guaranteed performance, even when working on slopes

To optimise their performance, MF 7260 and MF 7270 BETA combines are available in Auto Level versions. This system levels the combine rump across slopes by pivoting the front final drives. This correction feature makes it possible to work across slopes up to 20%. In addition the combine rump can level up and down slopes up to 4 % allowing you to work as if the machine were perfectly level. Given the extreme terrain these combines can operate in, Auto Level models come fitted with a powered rear axle giving real 4wd performance, more positive steering control and greater traction in difficult conditions.

Engine / Transmission

Massey Ferguson BETA combines are powered by the latest generation Tier III AGCO SISU POWER engines. Having pioneering technology in your machine means that fuel consumption per tonne is extremely low whilst power from the engine stays at a constantly high output. These electronically controlled engines are the heart of the combine harvester and deliver the power needed for consistent and efficient harvesting in all conditions. The centralised radiators provide perfect cooling for the engine, hydraulics and air conditioning. The rotary screen flips up for easy cleaning and a dust extractor keeps it clean in the dirtiest conditions. Access platforms provide safe access to the rotary screen and radiators.

The MF BETA transmission is a 4-speed hydrostatic unit, which maintains the right speed and delivers the traction required for all harvesting conditions. The gear change lever is ideally located on the right-hand side behind the console.

Ergonomic comfort and performance at your fingertips

The XLR cab on BETA combines comes with the comfort levels you would expect on a machine of this class. With automatic air conditioning, heating, air suspended seat, passenger seat and fully adjustable steering column, you will be able to harvest peacefully and in comfort. A full view of the table is complemented by the ergonomic layout of the monitors and controls. The Agritronic plus monitor and the seat mounted right-hand console provide all the information the operator needs during harvesting. All cutting table controls are grouped on the hydrostatic control lever and are clearly identified. Extras like electric mirrors and a fridge compartment make the driving experience that much better. All adjustments can be made on the go with minimum loss of time, for efficient harvesting.

Maintenance has never been so fast or so easy

Due to simple mechanical design, the number of drives is minimised, saving considerable time on maintenance, so you spend more time where you need to be... harvesting! Reservoirs and fillers for various fluids are ideally placed for checking levels or topping up. The same applies to the engine air filter. Daily maintenance on Massey Ferguson BETA series combines is minimal – just a few grease points and checking the levels of various fluids. In addition, large, hinged panels provide easy access to machine components for daily routine maintenance or quick checks. The four major drive engagements - threshing, table, straw chopper and unloader use a simple over centre pulley system retained by spring pressure. Adjustment by spring length makes it straightforward and easy to check. The aluminium ladder, giving access to the engine compartment, can be detached and moved around the machine to reach other components.
